How to Set Up the Meta (Facebook) Pixel Integration in RealScout

Set up Meta (Facebook) Pixel tracking in RealScout to retarget visitors and measure ad performance. Covers creating a Pixel in Events Manager, copying your Pixel ID, adding it to RealScout settings, and verifying it fires correctly.

Updated today

RealScout lets you connect a Meta (Facebook) Pixel to your RealScout search pages so you can track visitor activity, build retargeting audiences, and measure results from your Facebook and Instagram ad campaigns.

Note: This integration requires an active Meta Business account and permission to manage data sources in Meta Events Manager. If you are running ads through a third-party service and have already set up a pixel, read the section on shared Pixels below instead creating a new one.

Step 1: Create a Pixel in Meta Events Manager

If you already have a Pixel you want to use, skip to Step 2.

Meta manages Pixels inside a tool called Events Manager. Each Meta Business account can only have one web Pixel (dataset) by default. Before creating a new one, check whether one already exists.

  1. Go to Meta Events Manager and log in with your Meta Business account.

  2. Click Connect Data in the top-left corner.

  3. Select Web and click Next.

  4. Click Create new dataset and click Next.

  5. Enter a name for your Pixel. Use something specific, such as "RealScout — YourName.realscout.com", so you can identify it later.

  6. Click Create.

Meta will then prompt you to choose an installation method. For RealScout, you do not need to install code directly. You only need the Pixel ID, which you will copy in Step 2.

Step 2: Copy Your Pixel ID

  1. In Events Manager, locate your new Pixel under Data Sources.

  2. Click on the Pixel name to open its details.

  3. Copy the Pixel ID (a 15-16 digit number) shown at the top of the page or where you can copy to your clipboard:

Step 3: Add the Pixel ID to RealScout

Note: The navigation path below reflects the current RealScout dashboard. If you do not see Settings in your menu, contact RealScout Support to confirm your account type and access level.

  1. Log in to your RealScout account

  2. Locate the Facebook Pixel Tracking ID section.

  3. Paste your Pixel ID into the field.

  4. Click Save.

Once saved, the Pixel begins watching for PageView events whenever a visitor loads your RealScout search pages, including Search Links opened after you've shared them.

If You Already Use a Pixel for Another Service

Meta limits each Business account to one web dataset (Pixel) by default. If you have already set up a Pixel for a service like StreetText, AgentFire, or another ad platform, you will see a warning in Events Manager that says you cannot create a second one.

You have two options:

Option

When to Use It

What to Do

Reuse your existing Pixel

Your ad partner approves sharing the same Pixel across platforms

Copy your existing Pixel ID and paste it into RealScout's integration field. Confirm with your ad partner that reusing the Pixel will not affect their campaign tracking.

Create a separate tracking dataset

You need to keep tracking data separate per platform

In Events Manager, create a new dataset under a separate Meta Business account or ad account.

If you are unsure which option applies to your setup, check with your ad partner before making changes. The Pixel you use in RealScout only needs to exist in Events Manager and have its ID copied. RealScout does not require code-level installation on your end, and you can follow along with the steps from Meta/Facebook.

Verify the Pixel Is Working

After saving the Pixel ID in RealScout, confirm it is working correctly.

Option 1: Test Events in Meta Events Manager

  1. Open Events Manager and select your Pixel.

  2. Click Test Events.

  3. Open your RealScout Search Link in an incognito/private browser.

  4. Return to Events Manager and confirm a PageView event appears in the activity log.

Option 2: Meta Pixel Helper (Chrome Extension)

Meta Pixel Helper is a free Chrome extension that confirms whether a Pixel is present on any page and which events are firing.

  1. Install Meta Pixel Helper from the Chrome Web Store.

  2. Open your RealScout Search Link in Chrome.

  3. Click the extension icon and confirm your Pixel ID appears with a PageView event.

Note: Ad blockers and browser privacy settings might prevent the Pixel from firing during testing. Test using a standard Chrome window without extensions enabled, or use an incognito window with Meta Pixel Helper as the only active extension.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does RealScout actually track with the Meta Pixel?

RealScout's integration fires a PageView event when a visitor loads your RealScout search pages. This includes Search Link landing pages and pages where you have embedded a RealScout widget. The Pixel records the page URL, referrer URL (where they clicked from), and basic device signals.

It does not read listing content, photos, or visitor contact information.

Can I use the same Pixel I already set up for a third-party ad service?

Yes, you can reuse an existing Pixel in RealScout by copying that Pixel ID into your RealScout integration settings.

Whether reusing it is appropriate depends on how your tracking goals. Check with your ad manager/services (if using) to make sure tracking data for both platforms stays accurate.

I see only PageView events in Events Manager. Is that correct?

Yes. RealScout's integration supports standard browser Pixel placement, which fires PageView events by default. Advanced event types such as Lead or custom conversion events are configured on the Meta side using the Event Setup Tool, not inside RealScout.

Does RealScout support server-side tracking via Meta's Conversions API?

No. RealScout's Meta integration uses browser-based Pixel tracking only. It does not send server-side events through the Conversions API.

Where do I see results from the Pixel?
All Pixel data is visible in your Meta account, not in RealScout. Use your Events Manager for event activity and diagnostics, and Ads Manager for campaign-level reporting and audience management.
