How can I import Contacts into RealScout using a spreadsheet, list, or export?

RealScout has two import types: Contact Import for leads and clients, and Home Value Alert Import for potential sellers. Learn which to use and how to format each one.

How Can I Import Contacts Into RealScout Using a CSV File?

RealScout has two types of imports, each serving a different purpose. Use the right one depending on who you're adding and why.

Contact Import — for all your leads and clients

This creates the primary contact profile in RealScout. Use this for buyers, leads, past clients, or anyone you want to add to your database.

Get the template and upload at realscout.com/agent/contacts/import.

Column

What goes here

email

Required. Primary email address.

secondary_email

Optional. A second email (partner, spouse, alternate).

first_name / last_name

Name as you want it to appear in RealScout.

phone_number

Any standard format — (555) 123-4567, 5551234567, etc.

source

Where the lead came from. Examples: Zillow Lead, Open House, Past Client.

street_address, city, state_abbrev, postal_code

Mailing address. Use the two-letter state code (CA, TX, FL).

note

Any internal note. Appears on the contact's record.

tags

Optional label(s). For multiple tags: Buyer, Open House Lead → , comma-separate will ensure your tags apply separately.
tags with spaces are ok to import → commas, are used, to split tags

Keep each file under 1,000 rows.

Home Value Alert Import — for potential sellers

Use this to enroll homeowners in automated Home Value Alert emails. The address field is the property you want tracked — not a mailing address.

This import is additive: if a contact owns multiple properties, you can run this import more than once and each address gets its own Home Value Alert, matched to their primary email.

Get the template and upload at realscout.com/agent/home-reports/imports.

Column

What goes here

email

Required. Must match the contact's primary email in RealScout.

secondary_email

Optional.

first_name / last_name

Name as it should appear in the alert email.

address, city, state_abbrev, postal_code

The property to track. Use a two-letter state code.

After your import

Contacts are added immediately. They won't receive any emails unless you send an alert or have Auto Nurture turned on.

Imports are not overwrites — they add new records but won't update or replace anything already in your account. If you imported something by mistake and need help cleaning it up, use the support button in the lower left and we can help coordinate.

My upload failed — what should I check?

The most common causes: a column was renamed or reordered, a row was added above the header, or an email address is missing. Download a fresh template, re-paste your data, and try again.

Can I import contacts from other CRMs, tools, or even my Google Sheets?

Yes. Export a CSV from whatever tool you're using, then copy the relevant fields into the RealScout template columns. Don't paste the whole export — just map what you have into the correct template format.
