Off-boarding or Disconnecting a RealScout Account Integrated with Follow Up Boss

Steps for off-boarding a team member from a Follow Up Boss account connected to RealScout, or disconnecting the integration as an owner — covering the opt-out order, reconnection with a new API key, and API key security.

Off-boarding a RealScout account that is integrated with Follow Up Boss — whether a team member is leaving a team or an owner is disconnecting entirely — needs to happen in the right order to avoid orphaned contacts, broken alerts, or unintended deletions. Follow the steps below for your scenario.

Never delete the RealScout API key in Follow Up Boss before following the proper off-boarding steps. Deleting the API key before completing the opt-out process at realscout.com/agent/integrations is known to cause issues.

Step 1: Notify your team owner and Member Support

  1. Inform your team owner or admin that you will be off-boarding from the current Follow Up Boss account.

  2. Click the Support button in RealScout and let the team know you are departing your current team and need help with the integration transition.

  3. In your message, include your team owner's name in Follow Up Boss and the email they use with RealScout (CC them too). If you are moving to a new team, office, brokerage, or solo account, mention this and CC support@realscout.com.

Contacts are not deleted in RealScout if a step is missed, but they can be reassigned temporarily. When a team member is deleted in Follow Up Boss, their contacts are assigned to a specific agent, and Follow Up Boss tags those contacts with the departing team member's name for reference. Keeping your admin, team owner, and Member Support informed prevents unexpected delays when moving, merging, or unmerging connections or contact databases — a proactive approach is best.

Step 2: Opt out of the integration

  1. Go to realscout.com/agent/integrations and find Follow Up Boss in the Integrations section.

  2. Team members: click Opt out of the integration, then request manual disconnection by messaging RealScout Support from your account (or following up in the conversation you started with support@realscout.com).

Team Account owners and Solo Account owners who are not using a team member connection see Delete Integration instead:

Read the confirmation pop-up: opting out disables the integration without deleting any data. The one exception: contacts you trashed in Follow Up Boss while the Delete Leads setting was enabled in your RealScout configuration are deleted in RealScout.

Step 3: Set up and connect your new integration

If you are a Follow Up Boss team or solo owner (only after completing Step 2):

  1. Navigate to your Admin Settings in Follow Up Boss and go to All Integrations.

  2. Generate a new API key first. Use a clear naming convention, such as "RealScout – Follow Up Boss," and copy it securely.

Follow Up Boss team members just need RealScout Support to locate and link the accounts together. This lets the team confirm your Follow Up Boss Team Owner has an active RealScout account and team integration, and that they have enabled Auto Connect.

Keep your API keys secure

  • Keep API keys confidential: do not share them publicly or with unauthorized individuals.

  • Revoke unused keys: regularly review and revoke API keys that are no longer in use.

  • Monitor usage: keep track of API key usage to detect any unauthorized access.

  • Never delete the RealScout API key directly — always complete the opt-out steps first.
