The Follow Up Boss integration is a two-way connection: it syncs your CRM contacts into RealScout, pushes RealScout engagement activity back to Follow Up Boss, and keeps contact ownership aligned when you reassign contacts in Follow Up Boss. Only the Follow Up Boss Account Owner (solo owner or Team Owner) establishes the primary integration.
Who connects, and how: Solo owners and Team Owners connect with a Follow Up Boss API key. Team members whose Team Owner has enabled team connect link through Connect Team Members — first update your RealScout email to match your Follow Up Boss sign-in email. If your Team Owner is not on RealScout, connect your individual Follow Up Boss account through Zapier instead, and never request or use an API key from a non-RealScout Team Owner's account.

Step 1: Generate your API key in Follow Up Boss
Log in at followupboss.com as the account owner.
Go to Admin → API.
Generate an API key and save it — you will enter it in RealScout in the next step.
Step 2: Connect your account in RealScout
Sign in to RealScout and go to www.realscout.com/agent/marketing/integrations.
Enter your API key and click Connect Account.
Your account is now linked. This also lets a Follow Up Boss Team Owner with a RealScout team account enable auto connect for team members. Configuration options appear once connected.
Choose your configuration options
Contact Sync and Backfill. Creates and backfills People from Follow Up Boss into your RealScout Contacts. Name and address updates made in Follow Up Boss sync over — Follow Up Boss is your connected CRM, so it will always try to overwrite your Contact Detail changes in RealScout.
Delete Contacts. Deletes the RealScout contact when a person's stage is set to Trash or they are permanently deleted in Follow Up Boss. This is a one-way deletion: RealScout-side deletions (by you or the contact) do not change the Follow Up Boss record. Leave this off to prevent accidental contact deletion in RealScout. If the RealScout Alerts Link custom field changes to "Account Deactivated," check your RealScout Notifications.
Transfer Contacts. When you change the assigned agent in Follow Up Boss, the contact also transfers to that team member's RealScout account. With automatic sync enabled, Follow Up Boss acts as the primary system of record for contact ownership. If a contact is reassigned to someone without an active RealScout account, the contact remains under the existing RealScout agent's list and ongoing nurturing and automations continue uninterrupted.
Filter Contacts by Tags. Limits syncing and activity updates to contacts carrying tags you specify. Contacts pushed into Follow Up Boss from RealScout are tagged RealScout automatically — if you enable tag-based syncing, add RealScout as your first import tag, then add any additional group or segment tags one at a time. Tags must match exactly between systems: they are spelling-sensitive but not case-sensitive (RealScout = realscout). Multi-word and symbol tags need their exact characters, e.g. WV-Beckley-Market (hyphens), Clovis Investors + Market (plus sign), "NEW buyer" list in Enid (quotation marks), 983099 hillmountain blvd open house; Ad% (semicolon and percent).
Connect your team members
Click CONNECT TEAM MEMBERS, and be sure to also select Transfer Leads:
Caution: Be careful when removing an existing team member — it can affect contacts connected through the Follow Up Boss integration. Review the change with your team members, ISAs, admins, and co-agents, and coordinate with Member Support to plan the off-boarding. See Off-boarding or Disconnecting a RealScout Account Integrated with Follow Up Boss.
Troubleshooting missing contacts
Check the contact's stage in Follow Up Boss. If the stage was changed from "LEAD," reverting it may resolve the issue.
Review Events History in Follow Up Boss. This shows which actions were taken on the affected contacts — and by whom — so you can spot a mass delete or trash action.
To keep ownership transitions smooth: confirm a team member has an active RealScout account before reassigning contacts to them, audit People assignments in both systems regularly, notify affected team members of changes (CC them on support requests), monitor Events History for unintended actions, and train your team on what changing stages or deleting contacts does to synced data.
