Learn how to use every feature in the RealScout Home Search App, including listing details, photo carousels, commute times, school ratings, interactive map search, custom boundaries, interest controls, and agent messaging.

App Sections and Features

Home Search Screen

The home search screen is the starting point after login. It provides:

  • An overview of listings that match the client's saved search criteria

  • Quick interactive interest controls directly from the listing card

  • A message feature to contact the agent without leaving the screen


Listing Details Page

Each listing has a dedicated details page with the following features:

Photos

  • An image carousel displays all listing photos organized by room

  • Clients can scroll through photos without leaving the listing page

Sharing

  • The arrow icon in the top right corner allows the client to share the listing via text message

Map and Directions

  • Clients can explore the listing location using three map view types: Standard, Satellite, and Hybrid

  • The Get Directions button launches driving directions in the client's preferred map application

Commute Times

  • Clients can view estimated commute times from the listing address [Assumption: to a destination the client has saved or entered]

School Information

  • Nearby school ratings are displayed by grade level

  • School attendance boundary data is provided by Precisely

Interest and Agent Contact Controls

  • The Interested and Not Interested buttons are available directly on the listing page

  • The Message Agent button lets clients send a message to you from within the listing view


Messaging and Property Sharing

Sending a Message
Clients can message you from the listing page using the Message Agent button. Messages are sent directly to you through RealScout.

Sharing Specific Properties with the Agent

  • Tapping the plus icon allows clients to send you agent-specific properties

  • Clients can select from three lists: Matches, Interests, or Viewed Properties

  • This gives clients a direct way to flag listings they want you to act on


Agent Contact and Support

  • Tapping the agent photo at the top of the home screen displays your contact information

  • This area also provides access to support videos and additional support resources


Interactive Map Search

The interactive map allows clients to refine their search visually and geographically.

Ways to refine search using the map:

  • Add geographical parameters such as city, zip code, or school district

  • Draw a custom boundary directly on the map to define a search area

  • Enter additional search criteria to narrow results further

How to save a custom map search:

  1. Use the Draw option on the map to outline your desired area

  2. Tap Save

  3. Enter a custom name for the search

  4. Choose an alert schedule to control how often you receive notifications for new matches

  5. Tap Save to confirm

The saved search will appear in the client's active searches and will generate alerts based on the selected schedule.


Interested Properties List

  • Clients can view and edit their list of interested properties at any time from within the app

  • This list reflects all properties marked with the Interested button

  • Clients can also navigate to the chat feature at any time to continue communication with you


Common Questions and Edge Cases

Can a client change their interest status on a listing?
Yes. Clients can mark a listing as Interested or Not Interested from both the home search screen and the listing details page. These selections update in real time and are visible to you in your dashboard.

What is the difference between the Matches list and the Interests list when using the plus icon?

  • Matches: All listings currently matching the client's saved search criteria

  • Interests: Listings the client has marked as Interested

  • Viewed: Listings the client has opened and viewed

Who provides the school data?
School attendance boundary data is provided by GreatSchools.org using Precisely map boundaries for geolocation.
