Reverse Prospecting - What you need to know as a Buyer's Agent

Using Reverse Prospecting as a Buyer’s agent:

Your client's privacy is protected. Listing agents CANNOT see your clients’ names or any other identifying contact information — they only know that you have a Contact whose search criteria match their listing.

What listing agents can and cannot see

When a listing agent uses Reverse Prospecting, they can see:

  • That you (the buyer's agent) have a Contact with search criteria matching their listing

  • Your name and contact information as the buyer's agent

They cannot see:

  • Your client's name

  • Your client's email address or phone number

  • Any other identifying information about your client

How you receive Reverse Prospecting messages

If a listing agent contacts you, you’ll see a message in your email inbox and within RealScout on the MESSAGES tab. Here’s a quick breakdown of what that will look like for buyer’s agents:

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to respond to Reverse Prospecting messages from listing agents?

No. Responding is optional. The listing agent only knows you have a matching buyer — they cannot contact your client directly.

What if I have multiple clients that match the same listing?

The My Buyers tab on the listing page will show all of your Contacts that match, not just one.

Can the listing agent see that I have checked the My Buyers tab?

No. Your activity on the listing page as a buyer's agent is not visible to the listing agent.

Can I opt out of receiving Reverse Prospecting messages?

Yes. Contact support@realscout.com to opt out of receiving Reverse Prospecting outreach emails.
