How to Create a Client Search

Summary

A Client Search in RealScout lets buyers search for homes and save their criteria directly from the Home Buyer Search page. Saved searches generate automatic email alerts when new matching listings become available. This article walks through how to create, save, and manage a search from start to finish.

Who This Is For

Buyers using the RealScout Home Buyer Search page to find and track listings that match their preferences.

When to Use This

Use a Client Search when:

  • You want to filter listings by location, zip code, school district, or address

  • You want to receive ongoing email alerts for new listings that match your criteria

  • You want to save and revisit a specific search without re-entering your filters each time

How It Works

The Home Buyer Search page provides a map-based interface with a search field and a set of filters. You define your criteria, save the search under a name you choose, and set how often you want to receive email alerts for new matches. Your saved searches are stored under the My Searches section of your account for easy access.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Enter Your Search Criteria

  1. Go to the Home Buyer Search page.

  2. In the search field at the top left of the page, enter one of the following:

    • City name

    • Zip code

    • School name or district

    • Specific address

  3. Use the available filter fields to refine your results further, such as price range, bedrooms, bathrooms, or property type.

Step 2: Save Your Search

  1. Locate the Save Search button in the upper left corner of the map.

  2. Click Save Search.

If you are not logged in:

  • You will be prompted to log in or create an account.

  • Enter your name, email address, and password to continue.

If you are already logged in:

  • A default name for your search will appear automatically.

  • Edit the name if needed to make it easy to identify later.

Step 3: Set Your Alert Schedule

  1. Choose how often you want to receive email updates for new matching listings:

    • Daily - receive a summary once per day

    • ASAP - receive an alert as soon as a matching listing appears

  2. Click Save to confirm.

Step 4: Access Your Saved Search

  • Your saved search will now appear under the My Searches section of your account.

  • Return here at any time to view, edit, or manage your searches.
