Editing Your Profile and Likes/Dislikes in RealScout
Summary
Clients can update their home feature preferences directly in RealScout by marking individual features as liked, disliked, or neutral. These preferences influence which listings are surfaced and help agents understand what their clients are looking for.
Who This Is For
This article is for homebuyers and renters who are using RealScout as a client. If you are an agent looking to update preferences on behalf of a contact, see [Editing Your Client's Contact Info].
When To Use This
Use this workflow when you want to:
Tell RealScout which home features matter most to you
Remove or change a preference you set previously
Update your preferences after viewing a property that changed your thinking
How It Works
RealScout uses your liked and disliked features to refine the listings you see. When you mark a feature as liked, RealScout learns to prioritize homes that include it. When you mark a feature as disliked, RealScout learns to deprioritize homes with that characteristic.
You can update these preferences in two places:
Your profile page
Directly on an individual property listing
Changes take effect as soon as you save your selection.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Option 1: Update Preferences From Your Profile Page
Log in to your RealScout client account.
Navigate to your profile page. Your feature preferences panel appears on the left side of the screen.
Hover over any feature listed in the panel.
Click on the feature to open the preference selector.
Choose one of the three options:
Like - RealScout will prioritize homes with this feature
Dislike - RealScout will deprioritize homes with this feature
Neutral - RealScout will not factor this feature into your results
Your selection saves automatically.
Repeat this process for any additional features you want to update.
Option 2: Update Preferences From a Property Listing
Open any property listing in your RealScout account.
Locate the feature you want to rate within the listing detail view.
Click on the feature to open the preference selector.
Choose Like, Dislike, or Neutral.
Your selection saves automatically and updates your overall profile preferences.
Common Questions and Edge Cases
Does changing a preference on a property listing affect my whole profile?
Yes. Preferences set on a property listing apply to your full profile, not just that one listing.
Can I set a feature back to neutral after liking or disliking it?
Yes. Hover over the feature and select Neutral to remove the positive or negative weight from that feature.
Will my agent see my likes and dislikes?
Yes. Your agent has visibility into your feature preferences through their RealScout dashboard, which helps them tailor recommendations and outreach.
What counts as a feature?
Features are home characteristics such as pool, garage, open floor plan, or proximity to schools. The available features in your list are pre-defined by RealScout and may vary based on your market.
Troubleshooting
I cannot see the preference selector when I hover over a feature.
Try refreshing the page. If the issue persists, confirm you are logged in to your client account and not viewing RealScout as a guest.
My preference does not appear to have saved.
Check your internet connection and attempt the selection again. If the problem continues, contact your agent or reach out to RealScout support.
