How to find a filter from your MLS

RealScout displays search filters drawn directly from your MLS data feed. Filter names and available options differ between MLSs — searching within the filter panel is the fastest way to find what you need.

This general video tutorial was created using CRMLS. The search fields are provided to us by the MLS/Listing Service, so they may have different names than the ones shown in this video tutorial (not all MLS/Listing Services use the same filter names).

Finding a filter on your Search page

  1. Open your Search page, or open an existing Listing Alert to edit it.

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the search criteria and click Add Filters.

  3. In the search field that appears, type a keyword — for example, "garage," "pool," "view," or "stories."

  4. RealScout shows the available filters matching that keyword for your MLS feed.

  5. Check the box next to the filter you want and click Apply Changes.

  6. The filter appears in your search criteria. Set the value and save.

Note: The Add/Remove Search Option is not available in all search pages. If you do not see it, the search page you are using may not support custom filter additions for your MLS.

If you cannot find a specific filter

Filter names vary by MLS because each MLS provides its own field names and data structure to RealScout. A filter that appears as "Pool: Yes/No" in one MLS may appear as "Pool Features" or "Water Features" in another.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do some filters appear for some searches but not others?

Filters are tied to the Data Feed (MLS) selected for a specific search. If you switch to a different MLS feed, the available filters change to match that MLS's data structure.

What if a filter exists in my MLS but does not appear in RealScout?

Not every MLS field is surfaced in RealScout. Email support@realscout.com with the field name and an MLS printout showing where the data appears, and the team will assess whether the field can be added.

Are filter options the same as what appears in my MLS portal?

Not always. RealScout uses the data your MLS provides to the feed, which may differ from what you see directly inside your MLS back-office system. Discrepancies are usually a data mapping issue — contact support with specifics.

Can I save a search that uses added filters?

Yes. Any search you configure — including searches using filters added through Add Filters — can be saved as a Listing Alert or a Template.
